1. WHAT IS THE APEC CARD?

The APEC card stands for the phrase APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC). This card is a type of document issued by the competent authority of the country participating in the APEC business travel card program to it's business people, in order to facilitate travel, business exchange, commerce, etc. and investment activities.

Individuals holding business travel cards will enjoy such privileges as: Visa-free entry in APEC member countries, and a maximum stay of 90 days, priority in immigration procedures in Vietnam. Airport, easy to negotiate in commercial contracts, above all will be able to easily apply for visas to many countries around the world.

Currently, there are 21 countries and territories participating in the APEC business travel card program, including: the US, Canada, Australia, Brunei, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Russia, Mexico and Vietnam.

2. WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR APEC CARDS?

To apply for a business card, individuals and organizations must meet the following conditions for gran ting an APEC card:

NO	For Entrepreneurs
1	Be 18 years old and not be restricted in civil acts.
2	Currently working at enterprises specified in Article 2 of this Regulation that ha business, trade, investment and service cooperation activities with partners in member economies participating in ABTC cards.
3	There is a regular demand for short-term trips to ABTC member economies to sign and implement business commitments in the APEC region.

 

NO	For Businesses
1	Enterprises with minimum production and business turnover of 10 bilion Vietnam Dong or total import-export turnover of at least 10 bilion Vietnam Dong in the latest year.
2	The business does not owe taxes.
3	Enterprises have business, trade, investment and service cooperation activities with partner in member economies participating in ABTC cards. Expressed through transaction contracts.

 

NO	For State Officials
1	Hold an ordinary passport with a validity of at least 3 years from the date of submitting the application for approval to use the APEC travel card.
2	Having the duty to attend meetings, conferences, seminars and other economic activities of APEC according to the Decision on sending officials to work abroad of the City People's Committee.

 

3. WHO IS ISSUED WITH APEC BUSINESS CARD?

Because of the importance, as well as the benefits that APEC card holders receive, therefore, the subjects who are granted APEC cards are also very limited. Accordingly, the subjects include Vietnamese businessmen working in enterprises astablished under the Law on Enterprises, Law on Cooperatives and Law on Investment of Vietnam, inclusding:

NO	Subjects issued with APEC travel card
1	Chairman, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of a joint-stock sompany President, Vice President or Chairman, Vice Chairman of the Members' Council of a limited liability company; Private business owner.
2	General Director, Deputy General Director or Director, Deputy Director.
3	Chief accountant.
4	Director or Head of Department in charge of specialized departments.
5	Deputy Head of Department in charge of specialized sections (applicable only to bsinessmen working in a one-member limited liability company owned by the State).
6	Head of branch directly under the enterprise (Director).
7	Chairman of the cooperative and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the cooperative.
8	Vietnamese businessmen working at state-owned enterprises.
9	Vietnamese entrepreneurs are working at entherprises legally established in accordance with Vietnam law.
10	Cadres, civil servants and public emloyees are responsible for participating in APEC activities.

 

4. GUIDELINES FOR LATEST APEC CARD ISSUANCE

Different from the procedures for applying for a visa or passport, the application for an APEC card is quite complicated, including the following documents:

NO	Dossier for APEC card
1	The application form for an APEC card is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the province where you live.
2	Passport valid for more than 24 months. Photo 3 notarized copies.
3	2 photo 3x4cm with white background.
4	Indentity card (3 notarized copies).
5	Social insurance book (3 notarized copies, paid for at least 3 years).
6	Decision on appointment of director, deputy director (3 copies with company seal).
7	Salary slip if the last 6 months (3 copies with company stamp).
8	Business registration certificate (3 notarized copies, the company has been operating for more than 3 years).
9	Invoice for paying license tax for the current year (3 copies with company stamp, one notarized copy).
10	Invoice for paying corporate income tax for the last 6 months (Doing business must be profitable, 3 copies of company stamp, 1 notarized copy).
11	The last two economic contracts signed with foreign partners in one of the countries participating in the APEC busniness card program. Customs declarations, customs tax payment papers. (3 copies with company seal, enclosed with the original for comparison).

 

5. NHỮNG RẮC RỐI DỄ GẶP KHI TỰ LÀM THẺ APEC
